The majority of the time for Yale lock changes, only the rim cylinder itself needs changing. Doing this means removing the two screws on the edge of the latch, freeing the latch on the back of the door.
Then the screws on the back-plate of the latch can be removed, and this will allow the cylinder to pulled out. Finally, the shank is checked to make sure its length is sufficient for the new barrel, with it being cut down if necessary. With that done, the new lock can be slid into place and everything put back together. And that’s the job complete!
